How An "Attitude Of Gratitude" Can Help Us

It is easy for any of us to sometimes think that we have more problems than we can deal with, or to feel we are in a rut and can't see any way out. We may sometimes feel that we've been dealt a lousy hand in the game of life compared to other, luckier people; or even to just plain feel sorry for ourselves.

It's generally accepted that we become and attract what we spend most of our time thinking about. Therefore, it follows that if we concentrate on our problems and the negative things in our lives, we are more likely to get more of the same.

If we really want to improve our lives, one of the most constructive things we can do is be grateful for what we already have. Even if you think you have nothing to be grateful for, think again, as this is very unlikely. The ongoing terrorist attacks in many part of the world, and the attention given to the plight of many millions of people in the world struggling just to stay alive, and for the most basic of humans needs, may help to put things in perspective.

On the other hand, you may feel you have little to be grateful for, and as a result, are determined to improve your life. In this case, you can actually be thankful for your circumstances and consider them a positive driving force, as without them you probably wouldn't have developed the determination to rise above them.

 
 

If you are serious about self improvement and building a better life, wherever you are now, if you are committed and determined, there is absolutely no reason why you can't reach any goals you set for yourself. You will find the means and develop the skills necessary to become the person and life the life you desire.

Remember, some of the most successful people in history came from desperately underprivileged backgrounds, and/or had to overcome incredible adversity. Many also had nothing like the advantages of modern society that people in the developed world take for granted.

Developing an 'attitude of gratitude' and appreciating the things you already have can really help you to achieve even more of the things you want in your life.

Gratitude, combined with focussing on what you want from life, making plans for it's achievement, and taking positive action, can connect you to the abundance of the universe in the most unexpected and inexplicable ways.

There's one thing you can be sure of - little if anything will ever be achieved by just thinking about how unlucky or unfortunate we are.

Thanksgiving should be much more than just a holiday once a year. Anyone reading this is automatically amongst the more fortunate minority of people in the world, simply by being able to read and by having access to a computer.

Focussing on gratitude makes us more aware of the 'bigger picture' beyond ourselves and our immediate concerns. It helps us to put things into perspective, and to appreciate what we already have and what we've achieved. It also helps to give us strength and hope and to make us optimistic for the future, and gives us a solid foundation from which to work towards our goals and desires.
